This is a lovely guy i met a few years ago while i was rambling through Denver. i was only there for one day, by myself, and i spent the day (in the freezing cold) walking around looking for things an people to photograph

Victor was a homeless guy i ran into twice - the first time in the morning, when he was decidedly spooked by me talking to him (most people seemed to look right through them) - and the second time he complemented my camera, and somehow i ended up taking photos of him breakdancing, in return for this portrait.

it was the one shot, and only the one shot - he didnt like having to show his face (he wore a decorated stocking mask when he was dancing), spent ages rearranging his hoodie, waited till he heard the shutter click & then basically ran away. i'm so glad this shot worked out - i think i captured the side of him that made me want to shoot him in the first place
