Is it weird if I say I thought of some kind of alien city when I saw this?? (It's beautiful, by the way! )

Not at all! I love hearing how people interpret the fractals I make! Thank you

I think I had the underwater GunganΒ city from Star Wars: Episode 1 in mind

Now I think of myself thinking of the biomechanical creatures of "The Abyss." A big copy of this on a living room wall would be an eye grabber. Β

On a living room wall, you say? Hmm...now that's something to think about...

You could say the same about your other work, too. Up on a wall, it would be hard to look away.

It looks like you somehow changed the texture of the other one, but I'm given to believe Apophysis doesn't work like that. Extra iterations....?

BoxTail In reply to Kurich [2017-03-02 17:59:12 +0000 UTC]

Apophysis7x is pretty flexible, can make pretty crazy looking stuff

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

Holmes-JA In reply to Kurich [2017-03-02 14:42:25 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I duplicated the texture xform a few times, and replaced snowflake with julian, and increased the amount with each iteration so it'd form the pattern. I also played with the weights a bit more after some advice from BoxTail to really enhance the detail.Β

Kurich In reply to Holmes-JA [2017-03-02 15:04:45 +0000 UTC]

I really love the effect. It's like that oily surface you get on some things.

how d you do dis ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Holmes-JA In reply to GeneralEcchi [2017-03-02 13:52:30 +0000 UTC]

Lots of julians! I just kept adding, and adding, and adding, tweaking the values with each iteration to make them appear staggered. I did a bit of experimenting with Xaos. Not sure exactly what I am doing there, but it got pretty cool.Β
