Meet Ruby. So named for her favourite colour, she found and cut the magic gem for her homemade spell-staff herself. Contrary to popular belief, the Children of Stone are quite proficient in magic, but their practices are quite different from surface dwellers, favouring the alchemical arts and crystal-magic. Ruby is in training to be a stone-moulder. Dwarves, being Children of Stone, consider it a great sacrilege to carve, blast, or dig into rock, using magic to gently shape the stone to their needs without damaging it. Their nickname is more literal than you might think.
