No it's not, for I do not understand Arabic. This is just an abstract sign.

Really? It's quite unexpected!
Maybe I was an ancient Arabic scribe in another life lol
Anyway, I'm happily surprised, it's sounds more magic to me now!!

And thanks a lot for your devwatch, very appreciated

I'm glad this one seems to recieve a warm welcome, it's quite different from what I'm used to doing, but it's such an exciting form of calligraphy. I've got new idea for things of that kind... I need some time.
Thanks a lot

Thanks a lot (coming for you it's a pleasure, I had taken a look at your gallery some weeks ago, so this comment is all the more precious since it comes from you). I don't know much about Arabic calligraphy, but your gallery is trully beautiful.

Anyway, I'm just beginning with minimalism, it's very interesting and exciting, but terribly difficult. I'm quite happy with this one (except 2 or 3 little things), and the comments I got are quite encouraging.
Thanks for yours, especially.

Love the large piece of brushwork (?). It really implies to me a sense of elegance and violence. If a sword dance could be calligraphed, that's what it would look like...

Holyrose In reply to Ellygator [2006-01-14 17:55:05 +0000 UTC]

Thanks a lot.
The French expression "Γ  corps et Γ  cris", means more or less " a movement of the body, and a scream". It's quite difficult too translate in fact. But there's some idea of violence anyway.
I used a steelbrush for this [link]
It's my sword in a sense

Whaou!

Bref j'adore !

simple and awesome!! did you make it with brush?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Holyrose In reply to Fuesousha-Kinoko [2006-01-14 17:47:02 +0000 UTC]

I used a special nib in fact, called "steelbrush". It's a good compromise between the nib and the brush

Glad you like it!
