so I had a creepy idea for a story last night.

a man wakes up one morning to discover a mouth has appeared on his chest. besides being really weird, it’s not doing anything bad so he ignores it and realizes he’s really hungry. after a while he also realizes that eating normally with his face mouth doesn’t do anything for him, after eating breakfast he’s still starving. When he gives food to his 2nd mouth however, he gets instant satisfaction and fullness. he accepts this and decides to deal with it until he can get it fixed somehow.

as he continues to feed the 2nd mouth, it grows into a huge hole that becomes increasingly harder to fill. while he recognizes the satisfaction and fullness it gives him, his body doesn’t and gets weaker without the nutrients provided by traditional eating.

someone asked what the underlying metaphor was: the hole in the chest and the hunger that the character feels represents consumerism and how he can never be truly satisfied (because his body becomes weak) by consuming food through the 2nd mouth (which represents buying shit all the time). It’s about how he literally can’t fill this hole in his chest/life with food/material possessions. I’m not saying that material possessions are bad, just like food, people need it to survive, but when you rely on it to give you fake pleasure it can only ruin you.
