Most Sith go too far in the other direction and end up proving the Jedi right. The middle ground between the two extremes makes a lot more sense.

The problem I had with the Jedi is they seemed to arrogant and dogmatic. That was one of their downfalls. Philosophically the Sith are something that most of us would sympathize with- embracing your emotions instead of trying to repress them. It varies by Sith too. For example in one E.U book I read Palpatine was lamenting in the different approaches to he and Vader's powers. He was disappointed in Vader, saying that Vader used up his anger almost instantly and was a slave to his emotions. While Palpatine stored his ate and anger away. Never forgetting every grudge and ever slight, Storing it like a precious resource for when he could unleash it upon his enemies.Β
Honestly that about sums it up between the differences between Vader and Palaptine and even the different Sith. The Jedi were simply too dogmatic and had dubious methods such as taking force sensitive children- sometimes without their consent. That and the whole Anakin thing could have been avoided if they just got him the help he needed instead of saying "tough shit. Deal with it." Strangely the term Dark side was a Jedi term. The Sith never viewed sides of the force, just there being the force. The Jedi mostly made the term for light and dark.

As Mike Wong noted in his 'Revenge of the Sith' review stardestroyer.net/ROTS/Revelatβ¦, a purple lightsaber seems to mean the wielder is skirting the borderline between the Sith and the Jedi. As Homura isn't truly evil- even at her most misguided, she still felt guilt for her actions, and she still cared about others happiness (specifically, Madoka's)-Β the colorΒ suits her.
