It was about these kids in San Diego who were going through an exploration of their sexuality (puberty lol) and the main character is apprehensive about it because he has various adult figures who want to lead him away from drugs and sex, those including his mom and his friend's family who are from Illinois, the "pure American family." This picture is supposed to represent the death of the kid's childhood innocence (all the toys covering the ground) and the "scary" adult reality they're encountering (represented with the naked alligator head chicks).

do the wormy apples represent like, a corrupted apple of temptation from what the adults leading them astray were doing?

Yeah basically, something in the story described worm-infested apples so I drew them over their vaginas haha.
