In my headcanon Shining has grown in height and mane since he wanted to grow it out and he's also gained a few scars throughout the years.

Shining Facts

Shining wears his royal atire and he doesn't mind it i mean he spent most of his life wearingroyal guard armorso its basically the same thing.He also really likes the design of his atire helps him feel regal and strong, he even added the fur since the crystal empire is pretty cold even in the summer.Well at least for him (he is baffled how his wife and children can stand the cold probably in there distant genes thinks).Shining also wears a scarf, a torso band, and his horseshoes when he's outside of his royal life that is.

Shining is the Emperor of The crystal empire alongside his Wife Cadence so he mostly focuses on royal duties now a days,but he does help train the new cadets in his royal guard alongside his new captain. One of the reasons he no longer is apart of the guard is because of a injury to his stomach/torso, but he can still give you a good fight.

Shining got most of his scars from many years in the guard but the injury on his stomach was caused by a crystal stabbing into his stomach.(How this happened will be established more later)

Shining loves his children he thinks there his little angels and are impressed with there skills.When Shining isn't busy with royal duties he's spending time with each of them, and eventhough he can't fight as well anymore he still trains spirit in the ways of the guard since Spirit wants to join it someday and he helps Flurry with her sparring time for her jousting. As we all know Shining is the protective brother style so of course he'd be the protective father.Flurry is in a relationship with Pound Cake and they've been together for a couple years, but that won't stop Shining from being scarly protective of his daughter (Even though pound has probably brought a little something and ready to ask a important question ) It will take a long while for shining to really let go of his little filly.Shining on the other hoof is always trying to give Spirit advice on the mares (Which annoys Flurry and Makes Cadence giggle).But anyway Shining loves his foals and always tries to do whats best for them and yes he's very much a worrier (A part of the family gene i suppose).

Shining despised Sombra the moment he came back and still has trouble trusting the Dark king.. He could never understand how his sister fell for him but he tries to keep his hatred under check.I mean sombra is trying to change and shining sees that, but as well know shining will always be protective of the ponies he cares about.

From that first day he saw Cadence in high school he knew that she was the one for him.They've been through so much together and have made it through stronger and loving as ever.He still thinks of her as the most bueatiful pony he's ever layed eyes on and they've been married for years! So yes they are in the most romantic marriage.Shining does know about Cadences fear of him leaving one day and yes he's always known he'd die before her, his sister, his children and so many ponies.It terrifies him as well but throughout the years he's come to terms with it and tries to keep everypony close to him peace of mind.He always tries to keep Cadence on the happy side and enjoy there time together how ever long they have.Shining and cadence find time to do the simple things like taking strolls, seeing the stars, flying together and even still flirting.Yes cadence is actually quite the better flirt then him but he's able to put a blush on that pretty pink face of hers.They are very much still in a very loving and happy marriage.

Coronation

Shining Armor walked threw the halls pacing nervous.Sombra the ounce king of darkness had delivered quite...important news on the eve of Shining and Cadence's coronation.He can tell by the look on the cold stallions face that he had finally accomplished the task he'd been given since his return.'How could this be possible? thousands of years and he finds all the pieces in just a short amountof time' shining thought this must be some trick.He knew Sombra was fighting to gain our trust, and shining was sure as hell not to give it so fast like his sister has. He sighed and thought about his wife, he knew Cadence was probably shocked and hurt at this discovery. They may not have known eachother but Amore was still her family.'Oh cadence...what must you be feeling'. Shining looked out of the curtains at his confused and mortified subjects and knew that as their Emperor he'd have to help them remain calm.So that his wife may deal with this outside of prying eyes. Shining nodded then placed on his new royal garments, "I can do this be their ruler...For Cadence"
