Description From my Phanphic "The Quest" - here is a snippet that could come close to describing this scene:

Before he spoke, before he made a whisper of sound, she sensed him in her spirit and knew he was with her. Her body attuned to his presence, her soul lifted, buoyant, while the unsung melody of the phoenix winged through her heart. He moved in close behind her, taking gentle hold of her arms.

"Erik," she breathed, closing her eyes and laying her head back against his strong shoulder. For a long time they stood, tranquil and still, at peace in their world and with one another.

I manipped most of GB in there. - also changed/manipped/painted clothing, background, etc, to fit my story. I painted necklace and some of his hair and hers. Did shading, highlighting, etc, to fit lighting and more...This manip is special- it's the first manip "painting" I ever made. (I call them manip paintings because I do a lot of painting on my manips too!)

After making this one as a "cover" for my story, friends encouraged me to keep it up, and the bug had bitten - lol- so I got the idea to keep making manips for special scenes in my stories between them. There are plenty more to come... I'll post all I've made so far up here, and continue as I complete them.

Here is the link of the original romance cover...

Hope you like!

As always- I don't mind sharing, but if you do use this in a banner or as part of one - in public, over the Internet, etc- PLEASE give me credit as the original artist- honeyphan. To use it and not give credit to me is the same as stealing. Also please link back to this page...and do all the above for other artists too.
Thank you!

I have been Reading "The Quest" and i must say how i admire how much thought and detail you put into the Symbolism of the story. Not many writers do so; revealing the hidden meanings behind things, but you have. I have always been curious and interested about the symbolism of such things. Thank you for writing such a creative and insightful peace of work. It is truley a story that gets your mind working.

Thank you so much for letting me know!

I love symbolism- always have- and love to research so the concept of a hidden plot within the movie was like a treasure hunt for me, and of course I had to write a sequel based on it, once my group and I discovered all of what we did. lol

Again, thanks! I'm so glad you have been enjoying my story!

Out of curiosity, when does this happen? I'm reading the fic (love it!), what chapter does it go with?

Thank you! And sorry for the late reply- things were really busy this month!
It happens on their journey to Spain- one of those moments that could have happened. Nothing I detailed in a chapter, but just based on their journey/escape.

It's cool, and believe me, I know the feeling.
I'm the girl who sent you a fanfiction.net message a few days ago asking for the mild version of part 2.

lol- thank you!! Yep, my first.

I had seen E/C manips before (by Spikesbint and Elavielevenstar - some awesome manip artists!) and thought "I want to learn to do that too!" lol When I went to the site in one of SB's tutorials and ran across that romance cover I knew it would be perfect for a "cover" for "The Quest" (since they were on the run for most of the book). This one took me weeks- for a probable total of days when figuring out the actual hours invested. I did loads of experimenting until I figured out how I wanted it (and hitting the ctrl + Z key to erase quite a bit! lol) The manips don't take me quite that long to make anymore - about as long as it takes to make a music vid - sometimes a little longer if it's more complicated and I have to do painting on it too.

I think I remember you telling me that you read "The Quest" - remember their steamy wedding dance at La Feria in Seville? That's my current project. *wink*

O.O wow, of course I remember! I can't wait for that one

Well, I finished it last night- the rough. It still needs more polish, and I haven't decided if I should wait to post it after I get all the rest of my manips I've already done up, or do it before that...hmmm. Decisions, decsisions... lol

It was one of my hardest ones- I basically kept the pose but manipped everything out, changed position (of legs, of arms, hands, heck- the whole body! lol) or I painted it on! lol But I'm pretty pleased with how it looks so far...just needs a good deal of polish yet and I'll be finished.

Very nice! Erik's mask seems kind of small to cover his deformity, though. But I LOVE how you've done the moonlight in their hair.

Yeah, all in all, I think this makes a GREAT cover for your story.

I have a question- I noticed that in the edit file- it shows that you can change files (of pic submitted)... So if I did work with that mask some more, to try to make it cover more, do you know if I can change the picture above to a revised version without deleting this entire submission? Have you ever tried that?

Mominator In reply to honeyphan [2010-04-10 06:37:09 +0000 UTC]

Oh dear, I have no idea. No, I've never tried anything like that. I DID remove a pic I'd put up temporarily without any trouble. I suppose you could always remove it, fix it up, and resubmit it.

Thank you, Barb!

Yeah, you're right - it is too small. I had manipped the PONR mask, using his face in the final lair scene when he was about to go through the mirror- and it just wasn't working with that mask! I couldn't find it at the perfect angle to manip it correctly and look like it fit. lol So I kept erasing more and more of his mask until it looked like it went with his face at that angle - but there really isn't enough of it there to cover much, and he isn't wearing the wig either...
Oh, well. In story he made that mask when he and Christine were hiding out in the stable - so I guess I'll just say he didn't have any mirror to make sure it worked right. *wink* lol

The bad part of his face is facing away from the audience, so I suppose the size of his mask doesn't really matter.

Still, I might try to do that.
When I made that manip years ago, I didn't have all the updates Adobe now has, so wasn't able to do some things I now can (they constantly send updates and add new things)...so I might give it a go and just see if I can make it better...

Thanks for your support!

Gotta say, you do a great job with your manips. Me? All /I/ can do is take pix of my dolls and post 'em.

Again- thank you so much!

But you sell yourself short- what you do is very creative, in making characters fit with the dolls you choose and also making settings, props, etc to fit the show - that is its own form of art and you, an artist.
In one of my art classes in high school, we had to make a "real-life dollhouse" - miniature of everything, either finding props or making them -fitting a certain theme we chose. I had so much fun with that- and your cool work reminds me of those days.

Mominator In reply to honeyphan [2010-04-12 09:36:43 +0000 UTC]

I never really thought of it as taking much talent. I've been collecting miniatures for more than thirty years, and used to subscribe to a couple magazines for miniature enthusiasts.

Now THOSE people were talented! They would make their own dolls and/or outfits and accessories. The tableaux they created were absolutely astounding.

The folks who made furniture were the most amazing. One fellow would visit museums or homes and take photos and measurements of full-sized antique secretaries, then reproduce them in 1:12 scale. Down to the smallest detail! If the secretary had secret compartments, then so did his reproduction. He had a two YEAR waiting list of people wanting his secretaries, and he only made three, maybe four, a year. And charged two thousand dollars each. THIRTY YEARS AGO!

As for me, well I DO make some nice tatted doilies in 1:12 scale. (I use sewing thread.) Mostly I just take other people's creations and cobble together a tableau with them. Something ANYONE could do. (And frequently better.) But I'm happy with my results, and that's what's important.

Wow, your high school project reminds me of one we had to do in first year drama class. Basically, it was to create a shoebox-sized dressed set. Stage angles had to be correct, backdrops painted, furniture and props added, etc.

I kept it for several years.
