And now... a late halloween tale about this picture:
"Ding dong." The doorbell rang. "Must be Eve," I thought. I approached the door and checked through the camera, and I was in for a shock.
On the other side of the door was she, or at least what seemed to be her. Eve was all dressed up for the party, with an incredibly detailed costume that covered her entire body. She had donned a pink wig and also wore a headset that seemed to be firmly attached to her head. "Wow, just wow," I thought. She stood still, like a statue. I was processing the details of her costume when she said, "I can see you through the door. Open up, and I'll try to explain," in a strangely robotic, electronic tone that still resembled Eve's voice.
My mind was confused and uneasy. How was this possible? Eve was a cosplay enthusiast, but I had never seen her in such an elaborate and realistic costume. She usually enjoyed dressing up as characters from movies or games, but a robot was not her usual choice. However, I couldn't ignore the fact that she seemed to be addressing me. So, hesitantly, I unlocked the door and opened it.
Eve entered the room, moving in a strange way, as if she were really a robot. The feeling of discomfort increased as I observed some details in her costume that didn't quite match what one would expect from a person inside a costume. She approached me but maintained a certain distance.
"What's going on, Eve?" I asked, trying to hide the millions of doubts in my mind.
She raised her metallic hand toward my face and touched my cheek. It was cold and metallic to the touch, with a slight vibration, like small electric motors running. I felt a shiver down my spine.
"I'm not exactly the Eve you know," she said in the same synthetic voice. "I rented this costume from a downtown store, but something went wrong, and apparently, I'm stuck in this form."
Still trying to process the situation, I asked, "How did this happen?"
She lowered her head and said, "I put on the costume for the Halloween party, and suddenly I found myself like this. I don't know what happened, but I'm trying to find a way to get back to what I was."
The story was so bizarre and unbelievable that I could barely keep up. My girlfriend had been transformed into a robot by a Halloween costume, and I was face-to-face with a robotic version of her.
"What can we do to fix this?" I asked, determined to find a solution to her problem.
She looked into my eyes and said, "You're way too gullible, fell for that one, didn't you?" And she started laughing in front of me. "Look, it's just a costume," she said in a normal voice, removing the cape that covered one of her thighs. "See? You should have seen the look on your face!"
I felt relieved when Eve finally revealed that it was all just an elaborate prank. Her laughter filled the room, and I couldn't help but laugh too, despite feeling embarrassed by my overreaction.
"You really are a trickster, Eve," I said, shaking my head. "You got me good with that costume."
Eve took my hand and pulled me towards the door. "Come on, the Halloween party is waiting for us, and we can't be late. And don't worry, you're not dealing with a crazy AI, just me and my love for surprising you."
