Inspired by s story [link] -"Trapped." She's really awesome and has a lot of hetaliaXread fanfics, so if you like those, go check her out! She also has a bunch of other stories and drawings!In the story, Toris ends up cutting part of his hair in an attempt to get away from Ivan...though when I drew this picture I had been thinking that Ivan was just really pissed and hacking away at Toris with a knife...
So-I might write a version of what I had orignally thought happened later, but not now.

I was searching for critiqueable animanga works and I fund this. My first impression was "Oh, yeah, there is at least someone who draw my level" Usually there sre a way worse, or a way better than me.
This face looks pretty, I guess, this is a Hetalia character, or just a gift?
The biggest problem for me is I dunno the gender of character, sorry. But it looks more like a boy, so I gonna say "he". And I'm really sorry if its a girl tut"
So, the proportions of face are okay, I like this "huh?" expression and eyes colouring turned out very nice. Also, hair on the one side and no hair on the other looks intrersting, too. Also, your lines are accurate, and it seems, you did it like one breath, without any erasing, and thats awesome.
Things I dislike: At first, colours are flat everywhere, except of eyes. Also, tie and collar look pretty messy, you should practice more on fillinf apeces with colour. And, on the right side hair is a bit weird.
So, generally, the work is sweet, quite beautiful, but it has some mistakes.

Yes-It is the Hetalia character Lithuania, so it is a he.
Could you give me some advice on shading hair? I'm not quite sure how to do that, and I dislike using the Hetalia-styled circle highlights.

Personally, I dislike just color+shade ctyle. Hair is such thing, which have got unusual texture, and needs many levels of shadow. You can just give the first shade (pressing the rencil not too much) to the side where light comes form, to give the hair a volume, and on the "dark" side draw two or three shades, deepper and deepper. And as a light you can just save a place without colouring or do light with eraser the same way as with pencil C:
