I'm completely thrilled with how this turned out! (it makes me feel like I know what I'm doing in Photoshop )

I really want to know what you guys think of this because I worked incredibly hard on this! Please feel free to critique anything about this, I really want to know how I can improve.

I used the burn tool,highlights w/ no hardness and varying sizes

really? I use the dodge/burn tool and the shading doesn't come out well at all. what's the secret?

hm, i use a big size for the burn tool (about 40) (depending on image size ) and i go at about 27% opacity

Im thinking about making a tutorial, but im not all that good @ photoshop

oh, i tried that and it works much better!! thank you! is there a way to make the shadows have a softer edge?

You're welcome!

i use a largeish brush on 0% hardness and a low opacity(20% or less), you also have to be smooth with the mouse movement.

I draw the character on one picture (or psd) and open a second one for the bg.
i also use tons of layers
Feel free to note me any time for some help, im not great, but i can give a hand if needed
