Heyo just returned from the dead for a sec before I die again! I was planning to do an actual illustration today, buut I still haven't made my mind which rough concept I've made works best yet. So instead have some characters design I was procrastinating for AGES on but since character design is so hard I kept putting it off cuz I wasnt satisfied with anything I was sketching out until now, fucking finally! So you guys already saw a while back Alistair's redesign sheet and now you have the rest of the fam, so say hi to the Aetius family! Also I don't have names for the late emperor and empress so if anyone has some ideas send me some, so I can put them on the list for when I go name hunting. Also just a note, I haven't made official heights except for Alexander. (and yeah the sketch is hella messy, but shhhh)

Anyways general bios time, in which I wont go too much in depth cuz I wanna keep some info for me to expose in future works. Also sorry if it's not well-written, ya boi is tired lol. So from left to right:

Alexander Aetius
Age: 16 (in this particular design)
Height : 5'9''
Birthdate: November 5, 1363
sexuality: heterosexual
Nationality: Alteian
General info: The crown prince of the Alteian empire. He was raised under strict standards and under extreme pressure put onto him from his parents. This is due previous years of infertility with his parents which caused them to lack an heir for many years. Not long before he was conceived his mother got pregnant and had a miscarriage. When he was born his parents automatically gave him to their servants to be raised and said servants were fired and replaced often in order to avoid him developing a parental attachment to them. However, he ended up seeing Kayden's father as a father figure because he made him feel more comfortable and taught him swordplay for countless hours growing up, while he saw Kayden as not only as his best friend, but also as his older brother. As Alexander got older, he tried getting attention and love from his mother but gave up because she was cold and distant towards him. Meanwhile he feared his father because of years of physchological and emotional abuse from him, in which he internalized his messages and assumed that it was normal and didn't noticed until he met the mercs and spent time with them. Also, the fact that his father viewed him as a failure because of his personality and interests didn't help. As a consecuence, Alexander ended up with a lot of insecurities around his masculinity, his own self-worth, and relationships. When it came to Alistair, they used to be extremely close earlier in life, until they started drifting apart because of their royal duties and their father pining them against eachother, in order to force Alexander to be more like himself and become the perfect successor while Alistair grew more and more resentful towards his brother over the years which led up to his betrayal. When the emperor and empress got assasinated, Alexander felt no emotion regarding their deaths, which was the final nail on the coffin for Alistair. So as I mentioned before, Alistair organized a plan and got him exiled and stripped of his title while he was officially reported as dead in order to avoid him tarnishing his family's name with an exile. As he explored the empire along with the mercs, he ended up giving up his original goal of reclaiming his throne and instead destroy his family legacy and take down the empire and protect the vulnerable and put an end to the witch hunts while breaking off from the cycle of abuse.He also feared entering a relationship with Estelle, after he realized the feelings that his father had towards his wife wasn't "love" but possesiveness and entitlement, and he couldn't imagine himself treating his partner the same way his father treated his wife. Also, some say that the crown prince still lives and was seduced with magic by a malicious witch but that rumor mostly gets brushed off until much later.

Ignatius Aetius
Age: 50
(1330-1380)

Nationality: Alteian
General info: Previous emperor of the Alteian empire. He ascended to the throne at a young age and is admired and beloved as a ruler, especially amongst the nobility, which created a cult of personality around him. People calls him as the noblelest of men, an icon of chilvalry and faithfulness, and a man of honor and grace. Meanwhile people look up to the royal family as an image of perfection and how all families should strive to embody. He was intelligent and extremely manipulative towards his family and others and has no respect towards women, instead he saw women as subservient, inferior and as baby making factories. Also he was classist asf, and organized multiple witchhunts to get rid of the magici and the undesired, in which Alistair continued. There were plenty of rumors within the court of him being unfaithful towards his wife, in which were largely ignored, especially when the women he allegelly took in as his lovers eventually disappeared after a certain period of time. He tried raising his sons to have his same political ideology, bigoted beliefs and views of life, in which was mostly replicated by Alistair, but that doesnt mean Alexander was entirely immune especially after the years of pyschological abuse, and he made both of his sons swear loyalty towards him. When Alexander became a teen, he decided take more extreme measures to make him mature into the man he wanted him to be, and thus doubled down in his abuse, restriced his freedoms, had Alexander be engaged at the age of 14, so he could get married at 16 and immediatly have his own heirs, and made arragments for him to go off and rule one of his most remote territories as a test, but passed away before he managed to do so. In 1380, he passed away due to an assasination.

Charlene Aetius
Age: 33
(1348-1380)

Nationality: Phoenitian
General info: Previous empress of the Alteian empire and got married at a young age via an arranged marriage. As mentioned before, she had trouble conceiving an heir. Because of this she had to endure years of abuse and deal with her husband constantly forcing himself on her until she finally managed to conceive a child but ended up miscarrying. A while after she got pregnant again, this time with Alexander and was extremely paranoid of a second incident and had to deal with accusations from her husband that she's pregnant with a bastard child and she was cheating behind his back until Alexander was born. When he was born she felt no attachment towards him and thought was finally free until her husband decided they needed a second son in case Alexander died, so two months after his birth she was pregnant again and had Alistair after the same shit that happened when she was expecting Alexander repeated. Needless to say, this caused a feeling a resentment towards her sons and acted cold and distant towards them, and the fact that the boys resemble their father so much wasn't helping. However, she had high expectations she wanted Alexander to meet, because if he didn't do so, she would have been a failure of a empress and a woman, especially after internalizing all the abuse she received and the misogyny from their society. This was the reason why she preferred Alistair over Alexander since he was more of a picture of perfection by comparison. So if you asked Alexander who she was as a person he would say that she had two personalities: A strict, wise and intelligent empress but in private she became a more depressed, cold and distant woman that submitted to her husband.
