I've seen the terrible hand of struggle
and felt the pain that hubris brings
I have tasted the wisdom of divinity
And the horror of its sting

And though they tell you I am lost
And their words report my death is come
The fates have left me breathing still

I return victorious
I am coming home

Have tread against the flow
There is no need for sorrow

For the distance I have traveled
Upon and ocean of despair
Have led me back into your arms once more
An answer to a little prayer

I gotta thank =girl-withagun for sending me the image files from *concept-on-mac 's brush sets so that I could put together the background on this image. I wanted an industrial landscape, plus I wanted to work with more...gold and brown hues rather than my usual black, purple, red, and grey.

This piece is actually based on an older picture I drew back in 2004 (which was in turn based on a panel from the Hikaru no GO manga), of course aside from having Akumu in both, each piece was a bit...different in both the drawing themselves as well as the emotions they convey.

Upon his supposed 'death', Akumu awoke in the Realm Of Knives, where he sort of wandered around, feeding occasionally and unsure what to make of everything that had happened (and I think he must have hit his head at some point as well considering how he's been acting lately). Since he's met Aku (who belongs to ~Zansatsu and might as well be an alternate reality version of my Akumu) his unlife is slowly changing for the better.
