Wonderful shot. It's really amazing.
Tuscany is nice, really nice. But...this looks nicer IMHO. When I was in Tuscany I expected a more open landscape. There are more bushes, industry etc as I expected.
Tuscany is truly an amazing place in Europe but I think open wide spaces are hard to be found on the European main-land.

Tuscany is nowhere near as empty as this, there's trees and farms wherever you look.
This is a lovely shot, really nicely balanced. If you ever go to Tuscany, let me know and I'll tell you some of the locations I found when I was there. I might even come over and shoot it with you...there's a lot I didn't get chance to do last time I was there.

andy is right. i live in italy and i've been in tuscany recently... the landscape is beautiful but you have to consider that what you see in the photos of other photographers does not show how val d'orcia really is. it's full of building that we call "cascine" and streets etc.
For example, you surely know the famous group of trees ( [link] ). Did you know that just behind them (50meters) there is a big road and a bridge that you dont see in the photos that ruins all the landscape?
Of course, i'm not saying that val d'orcia isnt beautiful... i just wanted to tell you that this kind of landscape that you photographed and that can be found in your own country is probably as beautiful as that you can find in tuscany. You are so lucky to have the possibility to photograph locations that arent overphotographed. So theres no need to come here! Your goal is to make south african farmlands famous with your photographs!

I am so jealous, there is nothing like that in finland, not even close to those landscapes.
Beautiful photo, so peacefull!

You live in finland, but your jealous of somewhere else's scenery!?!?!?
that is absurd, hah.

Hah, just because Finland seems like a fantastic place for scenery and whatnot.
hope my comment didn't offend you...

You are right, there are some nice places to take photos. But there is nothing like that in hougaards photo. I would love to see those endless looking fields nad clean horizonts.

Ahh, I understand.
Newfoundland has zero clean horizons, hah.

Love it mate, although not overly fussed with the sky in this one. Isn't adding much to the scene.

Ahh! So calm and beautiful. Excellent panorama!
Though there is one thing that bothers me slightly, the dark levels right before the switch to sky on the mid left side - edge of the grass.

Did they cut down all the trees or is that the way it's always been?
