Ah, I'm one behind you, cs4 extended. I'll keep that in mind for when I'm next having a go at duotoning.

Awesome tones mate, love the cool tone. Man if the coast line around here looked like this you would pitch a tent and live on the waters edge.

Yeah! This is a very very popular surf spot, so camping has been forbidden, but the stoners still spend the night littering the beaches and caves.

It really spoke to me when you mentioned that unbearable need to refine more. On any subject or idea, strictly photographically speaking, even if I've shot it to death (The Slave River in my case), I always have this unquenchable need to explore it further. It's troublesome because whenever I connect with a natural landscape, which is almost every natural landscape, that same endless vortex begins. Once I'm out there, it's fine, but I would lose my mind without the land. Umm...I don't think I really got across what I exactly mean, but I suppose I just mean to say: I feel you dude.
As for this photo, I see mounting excellence. I would never wish perfection on you or any artist, because that would leave you with nowhere left to go. But this is definitely something special. The image reminds me of, dare I say it, Ansell Adams. It's just that the attention to your tones, the way they just barely touch pure white and then drop to pure "black" in the right areas, is very reminiscent of the way Adams pre-visualized his photographs as completed prints. And, his method of communicating those tones in such a way that it was symphonic to those sensitive enough.
Anyway, all blabbering aside, great image. Love how you've composed it, and damn that Zeiss is sharp. So sharp that that would probably be my only complaint. In a couple areas in the mid-ish foreground I find it a little too sharp, but that of course is just my preference.

Ach, it shouts out a moody atmosphere like no other, think the dodging/burning helped a lot with that! The again, it's the conditions that have made it the way it is in the first place. I really like the sound of this big stopper filter, definitely going to think about making a purchase! The main purchase I'm thinking of all the time though is the 5d mk II, I know it will be worth selling my gear I have now, and buying it, but it is costly, and something I don't want to rush into doing...

It's hard to believe such places are still existing in this rotting world...
It looks so magical yet mysterious,
words to describe: "Awesome time for taking the photograph!"
