Description I can't remember who told me that there's no reason to switch from a 40D to a 5D, I've had the debate with many people on DA. I think it's total bullshit.

Processing this shot really showed me the 5D's superiority.
The red sky is so smooth, not a speck of noise, That little lighthouse is so damn pin sharp at F20, and so is the rocks at the bottom border. There's not a single pixel of abberation around the lighthouse. Pushing the exposure of the RAW file up or down by a stop does nothing to the qaulity. I can't wait to see what the mk2 will be like.

The place is slangkoppunt( snakeheadpoint ). This is on the cape peninsula, the mountains you usually see on the horizon of my seascapes.

Man I took some pictures of this same lighthouse... it's as if it's not even the same one, great pic.

Was the water there like this? Or was this due to your camera.

Either way..your pictures have persuaded me to take a trip to Africa sometime in my life.

Probably one of the most beautiful waterscape I have seen. The colors and hues in the sky are superbly handled and the composition is simply perfect.
A really grand job that goes right in my favorites!!!
(I dream of taking such shots!)

So smooth. I love the texture on those wet lit rocks. Whoever said switching isn't necessary is indeed wrong.

Great Shot!

I agree on the 5D, I've just started using RAW on my 5D and it is amazing what you can do without loosing quality and adding noise!

It's a woundrous vision, with the contrast of colours between the sky and water, and the lighthouse in the background. Flawlessly captured, and fabulous.

the lens should have the effect on optical quality
the camera will too, but matters of sharpness throughout the field lie on the lens

I'm confused. I thought abberration is from the lens and not the camera sensor.

5D is good but the dynamic range is less. (12bit vs 14bit a/d converter on 40D) the sensor on 40d should perform better than 5d. weird... but this is high quality anyway
