I experimented on this drawing and added color to the beak as well, as the white. Usually I just use pencil and white, but I thought this was effective. He should be pleased he took a really wonderful, evocative, expressive photo. Sam is obviously a raptor with personality and attitude. I look forward to future photos.

We have both got new lenses so as soon as they bring the raptors back out at Easter expect to see more.

It is always fun to get new lenses, and explore all the possibilities that are contained there in. I always love your photos, and everything you both take pictures of.

I love the moody look that you gave to this guy, just like he's turned round to scrutinise after an insult was thrown his way.

Exactly, this eagle does not look relaxed or just looking around in the photograph Quaddie took. He looks mad, and ready to do somebody some major hurt.

I love drawing birds because oddly enough they can communicate a lot of emotion and expressions. I like you Big cat photos for the same reason. They are not bored, your cats have attitude!

I think that many people see animals, and admire the beauty, species, look, or physical attributes of the animal. However, they fail to see the attitude and feelings of the actual animal before them. Many animals are bored, or sad, or feel confined, and are actually not present. Then some animals because of where they are housed are happy, interact with their environment, and have very expressive faces and body language. Your photos capture that. It is why I say you are too hard on yourself. Your photos are very good, and very expressive.

Thank you! I think it's one of the best photographed heads of an Eagle that looks like the Eagle on American Money. I always thought it was an odd position until I saw your photograph, and realized it's a tensed for fight or flight look. Your photograph especially the full figure with the straps on his feet make you realize this eagle is a top predator.

I always thought that was an artist's stylized version of an eagle, until I saw your photo. Then I realized if your eagle had a snake in his talons and was covering his prey or was holding something in his talons which are both natural poses then he would look like the American Eagle in very historic American poses. I have never seen anyone catch that exact look in a photo. It is a very expressive photo of a Bald Eagle.
