I would link to the appropriate video, but it contains a huge spoiler for the Elder One. Suffice to say the brief shot of Marian Hawke in the Enemy of Thedas trailer I believe comes from a quest where Hawke is temporary companion.

Advice: take Stroud with you, I've heard Hawke can end up dead of you don't.

My advice: get out of the Hinterlands. You're never going to get 100% completion.

Val Royeaux will unlock pretty early as part of the main questline when you've found Mother Giselle, after that most of the game is actually set there. Note you need to spend power at the war table to unlock new areas.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to do a bit of grinding before Hawke and I storm the walls of Adamant!
