“Honey, I’ll be right here the whole time,” Bert assured his transformed girlfriend. “If they truly love you, they’ll accept you as who you are. If not, then it’s their loss.”

Dean took a deep breath before knocking on his parents' door, pulling up his jeans one last time to ensure she made a good first impression.

Dean, who had traveled states away to a prestigious psychology school on a full-ride scholarship, hadn’t been home for Thanksgiving in years. During his first year at university, discussing human minds and behavior made Dean realize he didn’t want to be a guy anymore. Slowly, unannounced to him, Dean had developed what many considered feminine traits and behavior. It started with secretly wearing women’s clothing because it fits him better, but that slowly turned into wearing them all the time. Then he developed a fascination with makeup, which only garnered more attraction towards him. Dean slowly began enjoying being a girl, and with the assistance of his boyfriend, Bert fully transitioned during his second semester. Dean never told his parents and blew off family events during this whole time, believing they wouldn’t accept him. Well, his final semester had arrived, and they were adamant they’d attend his graduation, so Dean thought it would be on his own terms if they were going to find out.

“Oh Dean!” his mother said, staring at her newly transformed daughter. “You’ve changed so much!”
