This dragon is the follow-up to yesterday's rose dragon. I was trying for that cute, rounded face shape again... and couldn't get it at all! I think the black glitter clay was too soft to hold that rounded shape, as the head kept flattening out as I worked the clay. But it's okay, this little guy is cute too.

I've been on a roll with the textured wings, and this was my first try with making them in Premo instead of Cosclay. In order to keep the wings from sagging and deforming, I used a bit of wire mesh inside them, which worked great! I've always kept my dragons' wings small because it's hard to support them once they get a bit larger, but the wire mesh held up perfectly and let me make much larger and thinner wings than I usually do. Clearly, there's room for experimentation there...

One final note: I usually end up matching the dragons' eyes to their accents colors, but I'm surprised and pleased by how much the pink in this dragon's eyes stand out from the rest of the design. That pop of color is fun, and I should do that more.
