This composition is quite classic, reminds me of some portraits from the 1960's. I especially like that the background is a mystery, bringing the focus entirely on you. It appears that you used a relatively medium depth of field, as the focus is selected perfectly to enhance the dramatic appearance of the portrait. Rendering the image in black and white was a wise choice also. I feel it may have been more distracting had it been in color. The tonal range is quite intesting as well. Given that your face is brighter than the rest of the image, this creates a focal point that draws the viewer to you immediately. Overall it's a very intriguing portrait. Hope to see more from you. Do not ever let anybody diminish your love of photography. I believe you to be naturally gifted at it.

Oh my goodness, lovely shot. So captivating. Her expression is a strange mix of intensity and calm, not sure how to describe it... Maybe curiosity? Hope? I love the wind in her hair, and the hood frames everything very nicely. (The hairs of the fur hood add energy as well, because they are blowing with her hair.) Beautiful use of black and white.
