Description

There's something to be said of the autumn season- of the way the world shifts and shies away from the approaching cold. Even the night changes as summer's growth reels toward the soil in its search for warmth amidst a surrender to frost. All the bones of the forest's anatomy are laid bare and though the trees sometimes cling to their coloring leaves, they too will soon be stripped of their soft flesh.

For an ocuuli, a healer, fall is no profitable season. Though he's always spent his springs and summers overstocking medicinal herbs, Kviir still finds himself scowling when the leaves begin to turn. Autumn and winter are often considered the wolf's bounties, but he knows the dangers they bring should one of his pack fall ill or injured. His magic helps, however. So long as the incidents are staggered, there should be little issue when it comes to ensuring the health of the Kol. With the growing strength of his shamanism, the weight of his concern diminishes. The interim season of pumpkin-orange leaves and deep cerulean skies is still far from favored in the pale wolf's heart, but he's found a few more things to like about it recently.

Especially when he can use the forest's bones and a spark of magic to spook his compatriots and get a good laugh at their expense.

so i came across #witchtober2020 (itslopez's version !) last month amidst a whirlwind of things and kept it in my pocket with no real expectations on coming back around to it

bUT! things have finally chilled and seem to have done so just in time. october's the Fun Month and i plan on making the most of it this year with as little stress as possible and witchtober will be helping me with that by giving me some creative direction 👏 i don't know if i'll manage every prompt, especially since i'll be bending them to fit my magical wolf children and that'll be.. that'll be something. but, i figure it's just another angle of the challenge and i might even do more than one a day if i'm on a roll! we'll see :3 but as it turns out, i'm already starting a day early bc I've been excited for it

so this is day 1 of the challenge and the theme was 'pumpkin'. i don't think there are any pumpkins on Almos, so i considered doing something with gourds instead. that just wasn't working, though! so i got to thinking and on the acreage i used to hike all over, the old stumps in the forests always had a vibe about them. they looked like gnarly teeth jutting out of the dirt and that seemed appropriate. except this one's toothy in another kind of way haha /fingerguns
