Description major drawing frenzy this one!
it's 3.30 in the morning out here, so that's an indication ^^

I started with the phoenix, then decided it needed a sea serpent to fight. but unfortunately, that didn't really fit the page anymore
the photographs don't really show the details, but that could be because the whole thing is rather small (about A4)

I'm imagining this with a dark, dark sea at night, with the phoenix bringing his fieryness in, reflected in the steaming waters and off the glibness of the serpent. unfortunately, I don't know photoshop or anything.
if anyone wants to give it a try, they're free to go

oh, and btw, in the morning with prettier light, there will be a prettier pic

looks like an awesome battle, though i'd wish that guy wasn't riding the fenix.
also the water on the left side of the serpent does not make any sense since the background suggests that the water is going the opposite direction.. or so it seems. I don't know i don't see the detail that well.

btw.. amazing job on the wings! O_O

btw, I don't like the wings all that much... they're too flat or something. not elegant at all

no. the guy stays! >(
he's just not really what he's supposed to look like.

the water.. well, it's a battle! the serpent's coiling and swimming, trying to bite, trying to flee, the wave are going in all directions, but primarily away from him. also, there's a tail on his left side, sticking out of the water. but it's not on the photo

why would anyone ride a fenix? why would a fenix let anyone ride him/her?

because it's a little fire sprite thingy!
it's not human, duh

even if it isn't human, the phoenix is a legendary creature, not a mount

you imply that it's degrading for the phoenix to be mounted?
well, I don't agree on that

it's just like.. say.. riding a dragon. and the dragon is supposed to be a hell of a lot stronger and smarter than a phoenix!

you're comparing dragons with the phoenix? :S

HS-Fenix In reply to hsZer0 [2005-05-26 11:36:00 +0000 UTC]

dragons.. well, dnd took much of the myth out of them I guess....

and if you put it like this, then even the idea of pitting a phoenix against a sea monster is blasphemy

but I like sea monsters, so tough luck!

off-topicness ^^

indeed, why would a phoenix fight a watermonster.. it does make me wonder...

'cause it's in the script >(

funny thing is... even if the snake wins, and eats him, the bird will just fire him up from the inside and fly away (and hope to god that the snake is near the surface

Oh hell yes. I love the sea serpert's coils and the feathers (specifically the tail feathers) on the phoenix.

I will give this image a go.. photoshop wise (maybe ) I dunno how it'll turn out.

coils are fun!
and feathers are really easy! just make small triangles until you die, and then darken the tips in certain areas. the tail feathers are sortof peacock-like..

and thanks for (maybe) giving it a try on photoshop!!
I will post a new image soon, with less red/brown lighting (damn you, tablelamp!), and hopefully some more details
