Description Aegipan are an odd type of creature, resembling merfolk but with the head and torso of a goat. While they do look monstrous, Aegipan are herbivores that feed mostly on kelp and seaweed as long as it is available.  In cases where food is scarce they will eat nearly anything but it is rare that this extends to anything beyond paper, shoes, and other personal objects that have been carelessly left unattended.  Similar to land-living goats, they travel in herds and can be domesticated. This is typically done by aquatic sentient beings such as merfolk. Prone to wandering off, the farmers have to keep a close eye on their herds and may use Akhlut or other domestic sea predators to keep them from going astray.

Aegipan have mild temperaments, but males will become short tempered during mating season. They use their large horns to fend off competitors for the doe they are interested in, and have been known to fatally wound eachother in the process. Instances of this are greatly reduced in herds with larger female populations, resulting in less competition.

Aegipan horn scrapings are incredibly effective at restoring depleted soil to a fertile state. As they grow continuously, their horns can be trimmed for harvest and ground into powder for distribution to terrestrial farms and greenhouses. It is popularly traded and sold over enduring drought seasons when the land is most stressed and prone to becoming arid.

Note: Aegipan may need to be relocated if nearby surface dwellers harvest seaweed. Their propensity for eating everything in sight could lead to clashes with seaweed farmers that rely on the crop.
