Hahaha
Based on financial logistics rather than on criteria of academic excellence, the ATHENA scheme of the Greek government regarding University Education calls for the merging of the Departments of English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish Languages and Literatures, into a single “Department of Foreign Languages and Literature”at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The above Departments have a long-standing tradition in teaching and research within the framework of autonomous programmes of academic studies. Teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level, as well as research in these Departments, covers distinct disciplines of literary and theoretical/applied linguistic studies, always in fruitful dialogue with the sociocultural context in which these disciplines develop. The ATHENA scheme will turn our Departments into a huge and misleadingly-named new “Department of Foreign Languages and Literature,” with five language-based “directions”. Inevitably, this will lead to language degrees with limited value, lack of educational standards and professional training.
Therefore, we the professorial staff of the aforementioned Departments are opposed to the proposed merger and request from the Minister of Education to respect and preserve each Department’s autonomy, tradition and its valuable contributions to society and the European mission.
HOWEVER, we had our building (us, the students) occupated for a month and we acted a lot, so the Education Minister had to take it back.
But now we have to remake the lost hours, so....

Long comment is long

Lol, I know. And the irony is that we studied our asses of. The Department of English Language and Literature demands almost perfect grades. And it is a really good Department. Likely, we saved it!

But hey, I live in Greece. Obviously the Ministers are crazy. Or scums. >.>

Sei italiana? Dovevi dirmelo prima! Il mio ragazzo mi insegna a parlare l'italiano.

Though I make horrible mistakes, since I usually get confused with the grammar -.-

Yes, my boyfriend and an Italian friend of mine told of your situation, I think it's horrible -.- And imagine that years and eons ago, our countries were of the most powerful ones...

Il tuo ragazzo è italiano? Scrivi molto bene

That's not a problem.. sometimes I get confused too, and I'm italian ahah

I'm 20 and I have never seen Italy as a powerful country. Berlusconi is destroying it....

Grazie!

Well it's that that I confuse italian with latin and french grammar, and there is a huge war going on on my brain. I still have diffivulty to make good sentences, so please excuse any mistakes

Well, I was talking about ancinet years I too am 19 and never seen anything thrive here, but oh well....

Sei veramente brava!
Mi piacerebbe sapere scrivere in greco come tu scrivi in italiano!

There was only a very small mistake!
you are great!! I thought you were italian when I read the first sentence you wrote in my language!

Let's look at the positive side: things suck now, so they can only get better in the future

Se si verrà, sarò tua guida turistica

Well, right now he says that to encourage me...I am afraid of this language, and I can't talk really, I am afraid that I win't have the right accent...:S
Writing is different than speaking....
But thank you!

How did you learn to write? Usually people learn to talk before learning to write ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LethielArt In reply to hsybbed [2013-03-28 18:59:41 +0000 UTC]

Vedi? Io continuo a fare errori >.<

Well, we have a course in our University. We are obligated to learn a foreigen language, so I chose Italian, since I already know French and I despise German. But our "professora" is stupid. She even learned us the wrong pronunciation of some words (piacere, zio, zero). And she doesn't learn us know to talk, how to form sentences, she doesn't teach us grammar and so on and so forth. I learned to write by myself. I searched for the verbs and the adjectives and the rules of your language and with help from my Andrea, I manage to form mere sentences.
But I still can't talk. Or rather I am to shy to try to.

I have been studying languages for ages and I have almost the same problem with German.
I speak Spanish, Italian, English, I know Latin quite well and I studied Japanese and French for six years, then I left.
I'm quite good at learning how to speak in different languages, but we never talk nor write during the lessons, we just have to listen to the teacher.
So I cannot speak it at all, even if I studied it for 3 years
I hate this situation

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LethielArt In reply to hsybbed [2013-03-28 20:12:08 +0000 UTC]

Vede(? ) qui--> [link]

That is so unfair! And a pity too. Lesson that is not done right, is not a lesson -.-
Tell your instructor to let you talk with him/her or with each other, it's a good practice

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hsybbed In reply to LethielArt [2013-03-28 20:15:48 +0000 UTC]

Adoro il mare!

Però fa molto caldo a Salonicco vero?

I cannot do it if I don't want to fail the exam xD
Next year, I'll have another professor, I hope he'll be better ^^

LethielArt In reply to hsybbed [2013-03-28 21:06:22 +0000 UTC]

Ah, instructors are dumb -.- Our "professora" of Italian failed a girl on our semester exams. The girl has italian roots, so she speaks Italian. She asked her what is wrong with her paper. The professor admited that she had wronged her, but she said "either way, I faiied you know, so you'll have to retake the exam on September, but I will fail you again"
I mean, dafuq?

I hope for your sake the next instructor will be good

What?
She was probably feeling under pressure because obviously the italian girl knows italian better than her.
I hate that kind of behaviour >.<

Yes, I'm sure she knows better Italian than her. Actually the girl talkesomd to her in Italian and she answered back in Greek

Yeah, some profs have that behaviour, and it's annoying, at the very least!

She really answered in Greek?
that's a very bad sign.. If you are certain that you are good at speaking you aren't afraid of comparisons!

LethielArt In reply to hsybbed [2013-03-28 22:12:37 +0000 UTC]

La piogga è piacevole <3
Vedo come è!

Yes, she did! I have understood long ago that she doesn't know Italian. I passed the lesson with an awful grade (5, while the best grade is 10) and when I checked my paper, I had only forgotten 2 "la", one "il" and I have wrote "ArrivedarLe" instead of ArrivederLa >.<

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hsybbed In reply to LethielArt [2013-03-28 22:29:07 +0000 UTC]

*fortunata

Ho paura.
Però non abita così lontano. Vive a 40 minuti da me!

O.ò has she taken mistakes out of nothing?
When my teacher makes something wrong she always pretends to be right and tries to make you feel like a stupid!
By the way.. Do you understand my italian?
I'm not trying to make it easier, I'm writing the way I would do if you were italian ^^

LethielArt In reply to hsybbed [2013-03-29 09:31:11 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I think that Alessandra (the girl who failed) told me that she had actually passed the exam with an eight-nine, but she gave her a four
Teachers are awful -.- I hope that if I come to teach someday, I won't be like that ;X
Yup, I understand! And if I have something I don't know, I ask Andrea He's my two-legged italian vocabulary

*brava.
Non ho un vero lavoro. Aiuto i bambini a fare i compiti. Faccio circa 3 o 4 ore ogni giorno per 5 giorni a settinama. Prendo tra i 300 e i 400 euro al mese, quindi è come se fosse un part-time ^-^

Would you like to be a teacher in the future?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LethielArt In reply to hsybbed [2013-03-29 18:13:07 +0000 UTC]

Mi stai prendendo in giro? I lavori part-time ti danno solo qualcosa come 100-200 euro al mese. ._.

Well, I can be a teacher, a glossologist, an inteprener or a translator, since I study English Language and Literature. But I'd hate to teach in Greece!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hsybbed In reply to LethielArt [2013-03-29 18:27:16 +0000 UTC]

Why would you hate to do that in Greece? O.ò
I actually think that I would be a better interprener/translator than a teacher. I'm not very patient, I would get mad if I had to teach to 26 children at ones *-*

LethielArt In reply to hsybbed [2013-03-30 15:48:38 +0000 UTC]

Ah, vedo come è ...

Well, I dislike out education system... It sucks so much >.<"
Had you been a teacher here, you'd have 30-35 children per class

Mi piace molto la tua lingua ^^

30-35 children are definitely too much. Here they go from 26 to 30 and this is not good for their learning!

We have something like that too but I don't want to leave. I am not a romantic person, but I think I won't be happy without my boyfriend.. I can't stay a week without meeting him O.ò

He would do the same but I don't want to go anymore..
You know, I was about to move to London when I met him and just after our first afternoon together I decided not to do it because I knew I found my happiness. Only a stupid would run away from happiness.
Now more than a year is gone, and I am now sure I did what it was right for me.
