The story of the song, as far as I understand it, is about a lonely painter who creates a painting of a girl who he falls madly in love with. He calls her Leia and loses himself in a sort of dream or hallucination that she is real. But because she isn't real (a girl of Lies), of course, and will not respond to him at all, he is finally decides to burn the painting, and then burn himself.

I always interpret the song like he knew a real Leia who's gone (dead or moved away or whatever) and he can't deal with that or so but mh your version makes sense XD
