Description

He exists in tales and legends of most tribes and settlements across the many realms of the ruined world. Each story differs vastly, often incorporating local folklore hero duelling with the entity, often just talking to it and tricking it with wit and guile, other still seeing it as a wise spirit. Some treat him as an omen of dark deeds to come, other as a symbol of incoming change. Some dismiss the legends in their newfound progressive thinking, enchanted by the growing industry and civilization, considering him a creature of the bygone era. Whichever is true, we might not ever know, but the Canticles of the Gods that Left Us made a clear statement on the entity in question – The Strider, the Forever Wandered, the Voyager of every Path. He is the spirit of unrest, the muse of wanderlust, the twinge of longing. He is the ghastly wind in the sails of the explorers and the rattling breath in every climber. He is wandering across the globe in endless stroll, collecting each step like a treasure, framing each to form a gallery of a billion tiny frames to ponder upon in his vast mind. He is wise – if we can say so about a god that never spoke nor chose champions or required faith or supplication. He is eternal – if we, who live like a fly by comparison, can ever be sure of it. And he is unstoppable – for many grand civilizations who attempted to catch the god in the jar to study his power and take it for themselves were crumbled in the effort. And when the dust of their edifices was still choking the air, from the ruins quiet steps could be heard, as the Strider kept to his endless walk.
