Repentance and humility are key. If we are constantly making excuses then we make it impossible that we will know God. Not because God isn't powerful enough to save us, of course He is, but because God desires a relationship with us, not a robot He has programmed. So, like all relationships, it is synergistic.That's what Lent is all about. It's about the struggle, the greatest struggle of all is the struggle to learn humility so that we can really truly discern our sins, confess them, and repent instead of making excuses.
