One of the first book clubs that I did at the store was on St. Cyril of Alexandria. Definitely a great author and Theologian. Here, he gives an awesome explanation of what Jesus is accomplishing on Calvary. Jesus has conquered and defeated death, he's taken away the claims of death and is even now bestowing life on those in the grave.

This is very good news as it means that the one who dominated and destroyed us is defeated. However, it also means that Jesus is king and Lord of all, and in the great day of judgment it will be the standard of thr teachings and faith of Jesus Christ by which all people will be judged.
