Aladdin wanted to wed the princess, so it was deliciously cruel irony when Jafar used his all-powerful magic to entrap the Street Rat inside the Sultan's blue diamond ring. The question though was what to do with it? Certainly it would make a lovely accessory to wear as an eternal trophy celebrating his triumph, but the Princess was a cunning one. She had already gotten the drop on him once in their passionate kiss and all it would take would be a moment of distraction for her to steal it away from him, or Iago that treasure-hungry parrot might try and make off with a trinket that small and easy to miss...

No, he needed to be sure it wouldn't be anywhere near thieving hands... Of course, he could always bury the ring somewhere in the endless desert but that wasn't satisfying enough. He wanted to truly torment the boy...

Ah... but of course! When Jafar had been scrying for the one who could enter the cave, he had found out about the certain admirer of the street rat that he so detested! Perfect~

Sultan Jafar had sent for Mehrunisa, and at first the portly Agrabah woman was fearful their new overlord was displeased with her, but that was hardly the case! Why, he invited her to behold a certain ring that was aid to contain her hearts desire! There was her beloved thief all pretty in sapphire right there on her finger!
"My ascension may have been sudden, but I assure you I am a benevolent sultan~" Jafar's words oozed like tar. "Wear this ring and soon what you desire will be within reach~"

Not even the most powerful sorcerer in the world could force love and certainly not make Aladdin fall in love for the obese devotee, but if Iago was good for anything it was for thinking up unique solutions to problems. A simple hex of the mind placed on the ring would slowly eat at the street rat's memories the longer he would spend in there. Within a month he'd forget all this silly nonsense of genies and princesses and that he ever disliked the name 'Mehrunisa' at all. By then, the ring would release him from his prison and just as he promised, her hearts desire would be within reach.

In fact, now that he thought about it... that might just be the ticket to settling things with Princess Jasmine...
