The real Light isn't insane. He's a kind and innocent human being, but the Death Note had let the sanity turn into insanity, and had turned him into a psychotic murderer for the greed of recongition. I like LIGHT YAGAMI, not KIRA. There IS A DIFFERENCE.

I totally agree with you on this!
When this scene came up in the anime, I was like: "Oh, crud...Kira's back! Why?!"
We have Light/Raito Yagami; a highly-intelligent young man that wanted nothing more than to bring justice by aspiring to be part of the Task Force when he finished his studies. Realizing how cruel and rotten this world was, he wanted to make a better world full of peace by putting those that had done wrong behind bars.
Then we have Kira; a cold-blooded, overconfident, merciless murderer that not only kills criminals but also innocent people who oppose his actions and justifications, aspiring to become "god of the new world". He manipulates people like Misa Amane, Kyomi Takada, and Teru Mikami into doing his dirty work. He kills off every criminal in and out of confinement, not caring if they were thinking of reforming themselves, and the people that cared about him like L/Ryuzaki and his own father Soichiro Yagami ended up dying because of his actions. He didn't even care that his own father died!
Once Light/Raito uses the Death Note, he disappears for a brief time and Kira is born. When the memories of being Kira and the Death Note temporarily disappear during the Yotsuba arc, he turns back into the innocent young man that we know is the real Light/Raito Yagami. Once his memories are returned, the first thing he does is kill off Higuchi. At this moment, Light/Raito is dead and there is only Kira to take over.
