It's looking very nice. I wouldn't worry about the deflector. Size isn't necessarily indicative of it's strength. The ship is fairly streamlined, so it would't have to project such a huge deflector field. I also agree with WideFoot ; the design is great. If you wanted to extend it, maybe widen it a little, maybe 50% more on either side of the available space, but I definitely wouldn't compromise the overall design.
Let's not forget with all the science fact that Star Trek carries, it's fiction!
