Inspired by a conversation with a friend, which took wing in my imagination and entered my dreams...Detail:

Temporary assemblage.
Dimensions (19" x 18" 12"); matboard, bass wood, cheesecloth, white and black gesso; Audubon owl illustration cut from a book of birds.
Crows drawn on watercolor paper, painted and cut out.

Busy lives, and too many images crossing our retinas.
I was very inspired by this one. And although nothing remains of the original stage setting except the owl on his ladder and the photographs, it remains one of my most cherished pieces.

Well - to be honest - I sometimes 'click' off everybody and take a vacation -- then come back and click them all back on

There are black angry crows, owl, it should be scary but there is a warm, upbeat feeling. As I learned from you, I watched it drinking my tea. A feast for the eyes, wonderful!!

Thank you, Canan. I distinctly did not want a scary, Halloween feel to this, but instead something more dreamy and surreal. I wanted to accentuate the fearless disinterest of the Owl, who sits on his perch amidst the raucous display going on around him, gazing calmly and directly at the viewer.
