portrait of ville valo for my friend Britta..her b-day present..not the best picture..i have no scanner and i usually take them outside..but..its raining...so..i did the best i could..but..im happy with the portrait itself..looks better in front of me..drawn freehand..with an assortmant of pencils

yeah..but i liked how this one turned out..
i dont get attached till they are gone..lol..they just sit in a box..but i know theyre there..now i miss baby ville..this one..dob..but..its all good..they are still on the computer...

I like your soft drawing style anyway
What kind of pencil do you use, have you tried some really dark pencils or charcoal? They make good contrasts if you only use them just a little, in the darkest parts, and give even more dimension that way.

well i have 2-6 H and B..but tend to use the 2 and 4s...i dont know why..creature of habit..idk..and when im drawing it seems dark enough...the next one i have planned i will have to use darker..coz its a pic thats all about contrast...it will be a challenge...dont care for charcoal..im too messy as it is...thanks

no, of course i used a reference photo..although i can draw him from memory pretty well..freehand means without the aid of a grid..ive never used one and had been discussing lately with some ppl...i said i would try it to see if it were any easier..but i didnt use it one this one..im probably not going to.im set in my ways..

i used a ref photo..just no grid or tools besides a pencil...now if only i could get him to sit for me..then i wouldnt need a photo..then i wouldnt get anything done..just stare at him...lol
