Description Drawn staight into Photoshop using 3 brushes: hard round with watercolour paper texture, oil pastel with watercolour paper texture and the later with dual brush turned off. Initially black and white I added some suble tones with colour balance but not too much as I wanted to retain the bleak, moody look that greyscale gives a piece.

Cool picture like... Really grim apocalyptic feel about it, kinda like Terminator, or the Matrix...

How long did it take you to learn the techniques to achieve something like this?

Wow, I guess I'd have to say since I starteed drawing coz thats when you really begin to learn isn't it? I started using photoshop seriously in about 2002. But it wasn't till 2006 that I got the sensitivity thing working with my graphics tablet (I know I am a retard with computers) and since then my technique really took off. This coincided with the launch of Imagine FX magazine which also helped me a lot with my digital painting technique.

Cool man.... Yeah I guess I only started to pick up techniques in pencil drawing a coupla years ago, and it's only in the past 5 months I actually tried out Photoshop, using the same kinda techniques... Thanks for taking the time!

I sometimes use Painter every now and then, but I would say on the whole Photoshop is the best package to use for digital painting. Simply because it is reliable, quick to learn and you can use a ton of layers (if thats your thing) without fear of slowdown.

Yep, that's the amazngly cool thing about using Photosop is the whole layering of the colours lol... Love that aspect of it, cos it makes it so much easier than normal painting.

Sorry, you already knew that, I'm just blabbering!

Lovely picture. I really like the lack of colours, gives it a lot of atmosphere, very apocalyptic!

Thats brilliant, I love the detail and the lighting, very moody, good detail on the background too, just enough to make it interesting without it taking anything away from the figure. By the way cheak out a trailer for a game called 'Maelstrom'. Also 'Age of Conan' might be of interest to you as well.

well you've done a good job there, the black and white shading is a good style for you, might be worth doing some more pictures like that, afterall it does suit the dark themes in some of your work rather nicely.

Yeah I think it definately suits a dark apocalyptic vision.

Thanx- one of the things I miss about working with traditional media is the texture, so I try toincorporate it into my digital work as much as possible
