Excellent drawing!  The large format allows such a lot of detail to be shown.  It must take a lot of work, but the result is truly impressive.

Thanks.... size does matter! lol. seriously, you are correct in saying it is possible to portray more details, however it certainly takes a helluva lot longer. The picture I am working on currently will have over 200 hours in it! Have you tried larger drawings?

200 hours is a very long time - I would not have the patience for that!  No, I have never drawn larger than A4.  Even with this size I tend to lose interest when I am nearing the end and just want to get it finished, but oddly I keep putting off the final push (finalising the details and shading) and do it in many small sessions (as short as 10 min) over a period of time.  Your WIPs suggest that you finish sections as you draw.  I, however, gradually build up most of the picture in parallel.  In fact after the rough shading stage, before I add start to add finesse to the details and shading, I often feel that I will never be able to rescue what at that stage just looks a hopeless case!  This is just my natural pessimism, however as I have only once, soon after I started drawing 4 years ago, ever given up on a drawing.

I say I do not use larger paper.  This is not quite true as I use A3 when drawing in the life drawing sessions that I attend. The angle subtended at my eye by my drawing and the model are the same on this size paper, making it easier to judge proportion!  There is no great detail in these drawings however - the poses are 5, 10, 25 and very occasionally 50 min.,

Thanks for your feedback. I know 200 Hours is a lot but I am then working on a drawing of 100cm x 70cm with loads of fine detail. I draw from section to section purely because I have always done so. I mostly start with the eyes and work outwards from there. It can be advantageous when I plan properly I can avoid smudging!
