Description As promised here are some mane styles for lupines (the wolf people) from my comic setting BLUE cover page  *
Here is a link to the leonine mane styles Mane styles - Leonines
Again, some style names are me being funny and not canon names necessarily that lupines themselves would use.

Again some info of the styles if you care to know, this time also females are included but it maybe hard to tell that from just the face.
1. Decorative simple (female)
For both females and males of any profession/specialization and for mane lenghts from medium to long. This style could be kept on on regular basis for better looks as it is not too hard to maintain.
2. Extra decorative (male)
For both males and females, for medium to long male lenghts, considered very attractive; basically begs to question what else you can still stick into your mane to look more fancy? This is a bit harder to maintain and so decorative it is not a style kept on regular basis, but more in special occasions like full moon gatherings where multiple packs gather together (often once a year, notice the included face paint traditionally used during full moon hunts) for a full moon hunt. This is a good occasion to find a mate so it is good to be stylish!
3. Sleek (male)
Again for females and males, but this one is more common among males and short to medium lenght manes. Different oils made from animal fats and plants are used to achieve this style and to add extra shine. Is not often used by hunters as the oils increase your scent that could be detected by the prey, but some believe that plant oils instead mask your scent helping you to hunt...
4. Bones and 'braiding' (female)
For both females and males with rather long manes, used by healers or person equivalent to a shaman in the lupine pack. This style is also often seen on elders, that take care of business concerning with spirits and afterlife, could also be compared to a priest in western world. The healers or the elder of the pack often have to be in connection with the afterlife and spirits that are thought to cause many of the ailments of the body, and thus bones are kept as decoration as they bring presence of death, raven feathers may often also be added as they are thought to be the messengers of the creator helping souls to find her in afterlife.
5.  Just braids (male)
For males and females with long manes. Here the male as shaved rest of his mane.. what a waste of beautiful mane! Shaving ones mane is often avoided as manes do not grow on everybody and they are considered beautiful, Among lupines uncut long mane is thought to hold some kind of power. Shaving is often done as part grieving process when you lose a close family member or your mate, saving the braids may serve as symbol for lasting connection with the deceased individual even after death, but the growth of new mane will signify the continuation and growth of new life afterwards.
6. Long & Straight (female)
Such long mane is rare to occur among males and females and it is considered beautiful on both. Easy to maintain and very popular.
7. Spiky (male, not Shadow but this guy has a resemblance..)
Popular style among both males and females with medium length manes. Some manes are naturally a bit 'clumped' and often appear spiky without styling, you may know certain someone with this kind of style...
8. Mohawk (male)
Common style among both on females and males with short to medium length manes, may require cutting your mane from the sides. Often used by warriors and hunters as it gives you intimidating look and enables you to save some of your mane when you want to minimize the length of your mane for practical reasons. Maybe a bit more common among males because of the popularity among warriors, majority of which are males.
9 Mohawk & braids (female)
Same as above, but enables you to avoid shaving the sides of your mane.
10. Unkept (male)
A member of a well functioning pack would never be let go outside looking like this! Grooming among pack members and especially close family members is common and packs often consists of related individuals. Grooming here can mean for example: brushing, braiding and washing (washing is done with water among lupines, but as a side note: lynxians sometimes include licking as part of washing, but it's only done between very close individuals like mates or parents and cubs)
11. Puff up (female)
Styling your mane so t looks extra thick and big, is very popular among both males and females with all mane lengths. This is considered very attractive, but it is hard to maintain thus it is often used in special occasions.
12. No mane (male)
This is not really a mane style for obvious reasons, but not all lupines can grow manes, actually only 50% of lupines have a mane and it is as common in females and males on average.
13. Short mane (male)
Of the 50% of the lupines that do have a mane, half have only a short mane. With rest mostly having medium length mane and only a minority having the long mane type. Short manes are often held in the puff up style as they are easier to puff up and this does make the mane to appear longer.
14. Wavy mane (female)
Very rare to occur naturally, more common among females and only occur with medium length manes with the long mane types rarely having some waviness and short manes types never. Considered very attractive and if not natural it is only used in special occasions as it is hard to maintain.
15. Ponytail & parting (male)
Common and simple style that may require shaving your mane.. does help to keep the mane out of the way when hunting.
16. Fake mohawk (male)
Common style among males and often used in special occasions or among warriors wanting to look more fierce, in the latter case the used fur on 'the extension' if often brightly colored. Allows you to not shave your own mane and makes more impressive mohawk if you have a short mane or even lack a mane completely! The 'fake' mohawk is added by using fur from a fox or a bison or almost any other long haired animal, apart from wolves which are considered sacred because of the lupine beliefs. (note when i talk about animals with their names like fox and not saying vulpine, i mean feral animals not the anthro counterparts)
17. Practical joke (male)
Someone is so gonna die for this!

Considering that lupines have shorter manes than leonines, the variery in styles in fantastic. I really love how you incorporated the lore and culture of your world in there as well, such as giving bone decorations to shamans or introducing the custom of shaving off part of the mane as a ritual during mourning process.

well some of them can get as long, but not from top of the head or front, just back of the neck! (although rarely)
I really wanted to give them a lot of fun styles, and have some of them also be meaningful besides just being decorative, glad you liked them, it was a lot of fun to draw!
