Riley Sage was an unusual child, born as both genders...but not at the same time. Every 24 hours, "she" and "he" switch places at midnight, meaning Riley has spent half her life as a girl...and half his life as a boy. Due to this nightly shifting, neither of Riley's genders have fully developed, leaving both physically immature when compared to the developing mind.

Resigned to a solitary path in life at age 10, Riley eventually discovered the way of the ninja and trained diligently; what began as a prepubescent death wish became self-discovery and self-improvement as youthful features led to opponents consistently underestimating the growing ninja.

It's quite possible that Riley's life expectancy is double that of a normal person's, especially since midnight not only swaps gender but also fully heals and revitalizes the changed body. Despite looking 19, Riley is actually 38 and possesses a sharp mind with which to capitalize on all who assume by appearance.
