With the release of ''Destroy All Humans 2: Reprobed'', many of the guns used by both humans and Furons have been given an upgrade in terms of appearance. Among them, is this gun, the M-56, which is supposed to be what the Soviet Union's answer is to the M16 rifle used by the United States. The gun is wielded mostly by soldiers instead of KGB operatives in all parts of the game except the Solaris moon base. The gun is chambered in the 5.56mm round that NATO is known for and has a magazine, likely of 30 rounds and is capable of select-fire. It also seems to borrow elements of the SIG SG 550 series into its design, as well as wooden furniture, likely reminiscent of the AK-47.

So while I do like the design of this gun, as well as the game, I have to address the elephant in the room as it were. Firstly, the game is set in 1969, a good 5 years before the Soviets even adopted a rifle of a much smaller caliber than the 7.62mm round of the AK-47. That gun mind you was the AK-74, introducing its much smaller 5.45mm round. What I also cannot wrap my head around is the fact that while the NATO rifle, which is the M16, is used by those of said organization, the Soviets are not issued the AK-47, like they should and the fact that they use a weapon that's not chambered in the 7.62mm round of the AK-47, but that of the 5.56mm.
