The seas were rougher than she remembered. Cascade's waters had always been relatively calm in her time, but today...today they were fierce. The crew had fought bravely against the waves and done their best to keep the boat upright, but they were at their limit and time was running out. Aquila was above deck, doing her best to help where she could. The crew still did not trust her. Her scales flashed too brightly, her slitted eyes moved too quickly, her fanged grin seemed too ferocious. She had bathed in their discomfort at first, but even rulers grow weary of being feared. With heavy eyes, she watched as they scurried back and forth like roaches, their bodies tilting dangerously as the waves broke against the hull. Behind her, she heard a sudden crack of wood and a scream. The railing had broken, a crewmate had fallen, and she could see their head dipping below the dark water. Before she had even taken a moment to think, Aquila leapt over the railing and plunged towards the sea. Wether they trusted her yet or not, she would not lose another brother to Cascade's embrace.
