Description
I winced as the restraints were pulled tightly against my body, burning themselves into my pale, freckled skin. They were wrapped around my arms, legs, stomach, and forehead. I was pinned down to a large cold table, forcing me to stare at a huge bright light. I closed my eyes, but I could still feel the light burning into my eyes. My limbs strained against the restraints, and soon I began to hyperventalate, once I realized I wasn't getting out.
Footsteps echoed behind me. My heart pounded, my ears ringing so loudly, I could hardly hear myself breathing. I tried to force myself to calm down, but my body was so wracked with distress, I couldn't stop myself. I was bound to my words, which had cost me more than just everything I had, but everything I was. I was going to be warped, twisted beyond human nature, until even I couldn't comprehend what I was. I couldn't keep that thought out of my mind as a large man loomed above me, his arms shoving the brilliant light out of my face.
I watched him as he inspected my face, my body. His eyes seemed to see everything, and his scarred hand flew across the paper he cradled in his arms. I had no choice but to watch him as he continued to stare at me, his hand nearing the bottom of his paper. Suddenly, he stopped, his hand freezing in midair. He dashed away, and I tried to lift my head to find him, before I remembered it was held down, forcefully.
"This won't hurt.... much," I heard his voice drift over to me. He tried hard to hide the sarcasm in his rough voice. I attempted to suppress the urge to laugh hysterically, and I finally managed to hold it down once I had reminded myself of why I was here. The man slowly pulled out a large syringe from his long ruffled black coat. The syringe was filled with a red-tinted substance which looked extremely poisonous, but that didn't particularly bother me. What DID bother me was the large, jet black, six inch needle producing from the syringe.
I flinched but I couldn't take my eyes off the huge needle. I couldn't stop thinking about how that giant needle was going to stab right through my neck, its black color showing through my nearly transparent skin.
I began to shiver violently. This wasn't the first time they had experimented this serum. There were other test subjects, their minds warped and insane. They had no sense of where they were, who they were, or what they were. I had seen them. They were transformed into monsters, blood constantly dripping out of their enlarged mouths, their hair fallen out, and their hands stretched into beasts unlike any others I had seen. And that wasn't even close to the worst of it.
I was forced into this, tricked , manipulated. The last thing I was told is that I would be safe. That was a lie. I swallowed, my fear suddenly forgotten.
"What will this turn me into?" I asked, as innocently as I could. The man paused, as if he had never been spoken to directly before. Maybe he hadn't. He coughed, eyes shifting from side to side.
"This is to help you, to make you stronger," he replied, still startled. His hand reached upwards, fumbling with the collar if his shirt, and act of nervousness.
"Is that what you told the others?" I couldn't help myself from smiling, a mischievous look crossing my face like a wave on the sea. I quickly dropped it, but he noticed it anyways. Again, he coughed, but this time more loudly, almost like he was clearing his throat for an audience.
"The- w-what others?" He said quickly. It was too late. I had noticed him fumble, and immediately knew that he was lying. The fact that he was lying, however, infuriated me.
"The others that you tested on! The others whose lives you ruined! The ones that you destroyed!" I snarled, and I watched as his face suddenly was drained of color. His eyes flashed with worriedness.
"I don't know how you knew about them," he whispered," But that was not meant for your eyes to see," I tried breathing in deeply, which was hard because the man was leaning in close to my face, his rancid breath overpowering my senses. His hair was matted, and his eyes seemed sunken, as if he hadn't slept in weeks, and his face was scarred, torn over and over. Suddenly, without warning, he plunged the needle deep into my neck. I cried out, but it had no effect in him.
The needle was cold, and it had sliced through my skin as if it took no more effort than ripping a piece of paper. I felt a burning sensation, as if someone had dipped the syringe in liquid fire before viciously stabbing my neck. I tensed, but the needle had pierced right through the muscle, tearing it to shreds. The man smirked at me, his grip pushing the needle in further, if possible.
I watched helplessly as his thumb pushed downwards, and I could feel the cold liquid running through my neck, spreading to my heart, slowly. I shuddered, the serum twisting and snaking its way into my body, filling every vein. My body was shaking, the serum nearly at my heart. The man gave me a warm smile.
Just as the serum enveloped my body completely, the man leaned in close, close enough to touch, if I could muster up enough strength to.
"Goodbye,"
