Description God it took forever to get rid of that back ground xD

I'm trying to get rid of backgrounds but GIMP isn't letting me save without a background Anyone know how to get rid of that?

Has anyone helped you with an easier way to cut & save without a background...??Β 
Hubby said he started with gimp ( hope this doesn't sound silly) he said to use Photoshop - Magic wand Tool & save as a PNG... donkeysneakers.deviantart.com/
