Description Went out on a nature shoot today. With all the leaves gone and all the human trash laid bare sometimes it s hard to get a natural shot without human waste in the way. This particular shot was interesting to me because of its organic nature. I felt like it would look best in black and white because of the contrast. The cracks in the wood adds a certain character to the image in my opinion. Give you a sense of age, wear and tear.

I really like a lot of contrast so I added more contrast in post. Its something that I've started doing with a lot of my black & whites.

Beautiful work with the contrast of this photo. The branches and the focus is lovely.

This is a truely beautiful shot. The composition is interesting, its abstracted, yet easily leads your eye throughout the wole picture frame. And the way you used the depth of field keeps the viewer from getting stuck in the background.
Also, I love the higher contrast. But I could be biased since I tend to shoot that way.
Excellent job!

Thanks for the critique and kind words. I am particularly proud of this piece because it was an intentional experiment that went unexpectedly right. LOL! I knew I wanted to capture the cracked, broken nature of the wood but in the level of light I was shooting in didn't seem to lend itself to the amount of contrast that it did. I am very pleased with the outcome.

Your welcome
Haha, yeah, it's always nice when something goes right! Unfortunately that doesn't seem to happen as often as everyone would like. It turned out beautifully, even with the poor lighting conditions. So you have ever right to be proud

What camera did you use?
