But in all seriousness, I've wanted to draw an anthro Virizion ever since Black and White 2 were the current Pokemon games. Why did it take me so long to get to it? Gen 5 isn't my favorite generation, but it is one that's pretty special to me since it was the first Pokemon game I played since the first generation, and the first one I played while it was current. I didn't get Yellow version until Gold and Silver were already out. So gen 5 was the first Pokemon game I ever played while there wasn't already a newer one available. And the feeling of playing it was something I never expected, it was like this childlike sense of wonderment, like I was playing gen 1 for the first time all over again. And at first I thought that that was some kind of fluke, like it was just nostalgia talking, that I just hadn't played a Pokemon game in so long that the experience felt fresh and new to me, but then gen 6 came out and did it all over again. I came out of my copy of X thinking that I was gonna get those warm fuzzies with every Pokemon game. And then the gen 3 remakes came out, and I wasn't really impressed, and then Sun and Moon came out, same deal, wasn't really in love with them. Did I just get two flukes in a row? Or did I get two flukes in a row in terms of the opposite extreme? I 'unno, but I feel pretty confident about Sword and Shield, I don't know what it is, but I got a pretty good feeling about the starters they showed off, about the aesthetic of the region, about the possibilities if they recycle gen 7's gimmick of regional variants, the jump to superior hardware, etc. I genuinely can't wait for those to come out

Apparently you aren't gonna be able to transfer Pokemon to Sword and Shield that aren't already available in Sword and Shield, meaning that if you transferred Pokemon from previous generations to Home, and therefore can't transfer them back down to a game where they'll be usable, then until Gamefreak either updates the game or makes a sequel or special edition (and let's be real here, if they do anything, it's gonna be the latter. They have never, not once, added new content to their games through DLC, they have always made you pay new-game price for it.) your Pokemon will be trapped in a cloud prison, and you'll have to keep paying a subscription fee just to keep them from being deleted. I am no-longer excited about generation 8 knowing that, especially since word from Masuda is that that decision wasn't even made because of a lack of space on the cartridge, you know, something that would actually be understandable since it would mean it physically couldn't be done any other way, it was purely a time constraint. Delaying the game would have been a much better idea, or letting it be known early on (read: immediately) if there was going to be an update later on to fix it. That may not ruin the game for some people, but it does for me, so until something is done to remedy the issue, I will be voting with my wallet and skipping generation 8.
