Far as I can tell, the only truly flawed aspect of this reimagined ex-Babylonian matriarch would be the Black's noggin...its neck & frill alike are excellent, but that muzzle is dwarfed by its companions. Otherwise, I'm blown away by the layers of spines & scale-mail, intricately detailed heads & sense of brutal mass. Those short, thick limbs & feet seem like they'd provide plenty of support for the massive tail & neck-cluster alike....and once again the musculature defining those wings is excellent.
...did I take long enough getting around to this one or what? Fine work, and hopefully my notes do some good.

I hadn't noticed that about the black dragon head. I had intend the location where the horns attach to be the back of the head (which would have made it the right size), but for some reason I made it look like the horns attach to the neck! I completely missed that - thank you for pointing it out.
Actually, the more that I look at it I thinbk the feet (but not the limbs) are a little undersized. I also think I need to rework the design a little as I had hoped to make her be able to stand on two feet (like in the cartoon), but when I tried that with this design it didn't work out very well.

Sadly, the animated D&D is one of a ploethra of 80's 'toons I missed, although you & Scatha sure make it sound worth a watch. This version's build does look a bit front-heavy for a rearing pose....perhaps extending the hindfeet & thickening the tail-base a skosh would help?

well is wasn't that great (it is more nostalgic now), but back in the 80's it was awesome

Thanks. I was kinda going for that unstoppable tank-like look.
I am a little concerned that the legs (feet mostly) are a little to small. Also, when I tried to figure out what she looked like standing up (like in the cartoon) I realized that I will probably need to redesign some of the anatomy. So the final version will probably change a little
Yes he would - and that is the idea!
Also, thank you for the fave and the red dragon fave as well.

Thank you and thank you for the fave.
Actually I am concerned that they are too small (not chunky/muscular enough). This is supposed to be an update of the cartoon Tiamat which was quite bulky. Also, when you consider that a very conservative weight estimate is 240 tons and that Tiamat is probably more than twice as wide as the typical dragon of the same size, I think the legs are small if anything. I think she would look rather odd with the thinner legs of the red dragon for instance. How could they possibly support all that extra weight? But that is my opinion. Thank you for the thoughts.

It is a great name is it not. It comes from Babylonian mythology. Tiamat was the dragon/demon mother of the gods.
Thank you for the fave as well.

there is not one definitive historical description of Tiamat (like most mythologies the descriptions changed over time and depending on who told it), but here is what you find most often: [link] , and it is a four legged creature.
However, what I am drawing is the Dungeons and Dragons version of Tiamat which is definitely a four legged creature. In the cartoon (also an inspiration for this project) she often rears up on two legs to fight, but she walks around generally on four legs. I hope to make a picture of her standing on two legs sometime.
