Description Reboot Idea #33

"Arkham Asylum"

Over 100 years ago, Amadeus Arkham built a psychiatric hospital in the means of helping those with deep mental problems. However, when one of those very inmates murdered Arkham's wife and daughter, he snapped, turning the minimum security hospital into a full-fledged, high security prison.

In the present day, Arkham still stands as the high-security prison it was always meant to be, housing some of the most deeply desturbed super-criminals that Gotham is home to.

However, one not-so insane criminal has come to call Arkham home.

Following an epic battle with the Green Arrow, Slade Wilson (Deathstroke the Terminator) was sent to Arkham, a loophole allowing him to avoid a more condeming life sentence (and leading Slade to go to a prison he believes he has a better chance of escaping.

Inside, Slade discovers that the hell of solitary confinement is nothing compared to the hell he will face inside the walls of Arkham, where he must deal with a forced best friend in the Joker, an equal in The Riddler, a foil in the Penguin, and a nemesis in Warden Hugo Strange...

...all of which want nothing more then to kill him.

A series devoted to Gotham's greatest villains? If this was real I would totally read it.

You gotta be a little crazy to go toe to toe with Batman

That must be one of the wackiest ideas ever! I absolutely love it! Especially because Deathstroke is the star.

The only problem with this idea is: how many issues can you write about Slade's "adventures" in Arkham? If he eventually escapes, then you will either have to continue the tales of the "Arkham Asylum" without Slade, which means changing the main protagonist, or follow Slade's adventures outside of the Asylum, which means that the title "Arkham Asylum" would become obsolete.

Wouldn't it have made more sense to give Deathstroke his own comic book instead and make his internment at the Asylum the theme of a storyline (or several) of this comic book?

Picking Slade as the star is a fun choice. You get to make a more unique version of a Deathstroke title, while also being kind of a unique Bat title that we haven't seen before. You're also taking advantage, of course, of the current Arkham craze.

I played a heck of a lot of Asylum and City before making this one. It was certainly on the brain.

Not surprising; I think it's on every one's brains lately.

.....the way you drew Joker here is just... incredibly creepy. Like.. HIGHLY creepy.

Not like NORMAL Joker creepy... but this is on a whole 'nother level.

*shudders*

Yeah I don't like him.

I mean i DO, but i don't. You know what i mean

I really like how this little layout came out! Hehe. And the look on Slade's face is just.... charming for some reason.

I really do like the concept behind this one too. Very well thought out!

I think I was playing Arkham Asylum AND Arkham City back to back, so that's where a ton of the inspiration came from for this idea. LOL!

Im no gamer, but when I find a game I really like, I stick to it like glue.
