I'm probably not the best person to ask for advice on this. I'm afraid I can give you my opinion as someone who reads lots of manga/comics on an android tablet.
I find that the average manga page fits pretty well into the screen of an 8 inch tablet screen. Of course, it'll vary with what sort of medium you're expecting people to read from - i.e. off an app or off the internet or saved onto the device. But I find the average manga page size works for me.
