Chapter 2: Visitors with ‘gifts’
Biology was I subject I usually didn’t mind, but this lesson some how the reason moths are able to blend in to there surrounding just wasn’t that gripping. So Jez and I talked about mindless but amusing stuff. Then I heard a low rumbling pass over, I and some others looked around but I thought nothing of it. I wasn’t until a couple of moments later I saw some students running down the corridor that I began to think that something was going on. “Miss, as thrilling as this is I’m gonna go check out what’s going on” I told our science teacher
“Ok, just tell me what all the fuss is when you get back”
“Sure” I told her “You coming” I asked Jez
“I’ve got nothing better to do.” I grabbed my bag then we proceeded to leave the room followed by some other students. As we headed down the corridor we ran in to Steve and Kate “What’s going on?” I asked them
“Something just LANDED in the playground.” Kate told me
“Don’t be stupid” I said to her
“No something has, what do you think that rumbling was?” Steve said
“You heard that to? Let’s go check this out!” We all broke into a run in the direction of the playground.
By the time we got there quite a few students were already in the playground, we pushed our way through the crowd we got to the front where I found my self next to my good friend Stu, he was about the same size as me but with blond hair and blue eyes. Before us all was a 90 foot long spaceship, The front was made up of 4 giant spikes, the main body of the ship seemed to be metallic and the end was made 3 of the giant escort port the whole thing was a golden brown colour. “Jesus Christ” I head Steve whisper. It seemed like we’d been staring at it for ages before a panel on the main body of the ship opened up to form a ramp up in to the ship. From be hind me I heard Mr Morris pushing through the crowd “Get out of my way! Get out of my way! I need to be next to the thing for when the papers and news stations get here.” He pushed his way past me and then stopped, I don’t think he had realised what the ‘thing’ was. “I wanna be on TV too” said Stu venturing out.
Then air seemed to shimmer in several places on and around the ship, these shimmers were then replaced by transparent figures, then these figures became solid. The figures appeared to be 2 legged humanoid creatures standing about 2.5 metres tall, most of their body seemed to be pure muscle, some of them were wearing sleek masks that covered there faces, but some were not, the most prominent feature of their faces were four mandibles which protruded from, and surrounded, a smallish mouth filled with sharp teeth, On their head, they had course bristly "hair" which is twisted into dreadlocks, their skin colour was a pasty yellow mottled with black spots and their eye colour was green or yellow. Then I came to my attention that one of them was standing much closer to the crowd than the others, but this one looked a lot older.
“What the hell are these things? Jez whispered to me
“Well I think we can safely say there not from this planet, and check out the weaponry they must be some kinda warriors.”
Morris turned to face the closest one and took a few steps closed to ‘him’,
“Now I don’t know what you’re doing here.” He told the older looking warrior “But you’re disrupting lesson ti-” Before he’d finished speaking the warrior drew two semantically blades from a device on his wrist and used them to upper cut Mr Morris causing him to fly backwards a short distance, when his body landed we could see the creature had sliced open his stomach and chest. Some of the girls screamed, but for everyone else I hadn’t sunk in that that creature had just killed our head teacher. Then the creature turned to face Stu, their eyes met, Stu ran, but before he could get very far the warrior took a spear from his back and launched it at Stu with deadly accuracy, it went strait through his head killing him instantly.
“Ok no one do anything to the warriors” I said to me friends
“I wasn’t planning to, but for once I think I’ll take your advice” Steve said. The older warrior took a few steps back and withdrew his wrist blades, which were still dripping in our head teacher’s blood. Shortly after another 7 warriors came our of their ship, each one was carrying a metal create, they placed them evenly in front of the ship and the returned inside, then one by one so did all the other warriors, the entrance closed and moments later the engines were ignited and it flew away up it to clouds where we lost sight of it.
A short in later some kind of semi transparent dome materialised keeping us stuck in the school.
“Hey what the hell do they think there doing!?” Steve yelled
“Why wont they let us out?” others yelled
“We going to die!” the more dramatic kids screamed
I went over to Stu body just in case, but I knew there was no chance, I pulled the spear out of his skull and as I gripped in harder withdrew in size to around 30cm.
“Cool” I thought and proceeded to wipe the blood of on the grass; I placed the spear in my bag and went back over to my friend. “Is he?” Kate asked.
“Yeah, there’s little change he could have survived” I told her, from be hind me came a weak “Hey” it was Sally, she was with Sara, Tom and Marc.
“Hey, you girls ok, you look a little shaken” I asked
“We’ll be ok” Sara said
“Good, how about you guys?” I asked Tom and Marc.
“We’re fine” Marc replied
“What the fuck was all that about!?” Tom yelled “Those warriors just land their ship, kill who ever goes near, drop off some boxes and then leave and trap us inside the school!?”
“I haven’t gotta clue.” Said Matt who’d just walked up behind us
“I’m gonna go see what those boxes are all about” Kate said and started towards the boxes, several others we already checking them out.
“Sure I’ll go to.” Jez agreed, I put my arm out to stop him.
“I wouldn’t if I were you; I don’t think they’d kill to people and trap us in school just to drop off nice gifts, do you?” I asked
“Your right.” He agreed “Kate don’t get to close to those things!” He yelled over to her.
“Ok” she yelled back
“So what do we do now?” Matt asked
“Well if I’m gonna be stuck in school I not going back to lesson!” Steve announced
“Why don’t we go and get ourselves a place and chill out in the hall, we might be here a long time?” Sara suggested
“Agreed, you guys get goin we’ll go get Kate.” I said
“K” Sara agreed. I, Jez and Steve slowly started to walk over to Kate.
“These boxes are sealed shut.” Kate yelled over, but no sooner as shed said that the boxes dropped open to reveal a leathery egg like object about 2.5 feet tall. Most of them were dark green in colour, but the on next to Kate was much darker and bumpier. “What the hell is that?” Steve said, Kate bent down to get a closer look at which point the top of the split into 4 and slowly opened, as did all the others.
