After the recent news of how Sonic will look like in the upcoming Sonic movie I actually am ok with this version of how he looks. I liked it so much I decided to finally make some fan art of how Sonic will look in the movie. Actually had a lot of fun drawing this one up. Enjoy!Related content

I am also okay with this design. I know others are flipping out here and I just have this crazy feeling that once the official trailer drops it'll be bombed with dislikes...and I'm certain most of them will be Sonic fans. But eh, as I've said plenty of times today, this Sonic design is insanely recognizable and as long as kids (which the movie is aimed for, btw) recognize the design and who he is, then I'd say the design is a..."success" to put it in loose terms.
This design isn't super great or amazing, but it's good. It's okay. I know it's Sonic. You know it's Sonic. It's just another interpretation. Is Sonic not allowed to have different interpretations? Mega Man has many different interpretations (and I'm speaking strictly Classic Mega Man, not "successors" and "alternate versions" like Mega Man X and MegaMan.EXE) and, most of the time, I rarely hear complaints from that. Heck, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had many different interpretations, and so have Transformers, Spider-Man, Batman, etc. It's like Sonic's not allowed to have a different design. X'D I get it though, Sonic's had it rough, and as a fan for over 10 years, I know that Sonic has had it's up and downs and when he goes down, he goes down hard.
I know some people are like "Gah, why does he have blue arms?" and... I seriously point to Sonic Boom, a franchise that also had Sonic w/ blue arms. We all, myself included, freaked out about it, but we came to accept it (most of us). After all, it's a different Sonic. Why not change it around a little? It's an intentional design unlike the times where Sonic unintentionally had blue arms in AoSTH, SatAM, and Sonic Underground (and I looked it up, and Sonic X did this at least once...maybe twice lol). X'D
There's only a FEW things that truly bugs me about this design:
1) Lack of Gloves. It seems his hands are white like gloves though and...I'm weirded out a little lol
2) No socks... Wearing shoes without socks is weird in general lol
3) Muscular legs...this one doesn't bother me as much as it initially did but still lol

Thanks! I also get what ya mean, I feel the same way over the Sonic situation myself since being a fan just about all my life since I was old enough to pick up a game controller. I’m personally hoping that since he’s not shown with any gloves or socks that maybe if (and that’s a big if) they set it up after the movie comes to the end that they set things up to where he gets them from somewhere or from someone and has them on to set things up for more movies or something. If it’s a success that is.

That would be interesting. Though do we know his origin as of yet? Is he from another world like in Sonic X or something? Or is he...a lab experiment gone wrong like in Fleetway Sonic's origin? lol

His origin is something I’ve always wanted to know for the movie since the movie was announced, as for as we know he seems to be run from the government. That one about the Fleetway Sonic might be something they could use if the government is involved with him. XD

They could’ve done a better design like how the Sonic fan film had him, I’m just glad this one doesn’t look like the one in the first teaser they revealed. That one looked much worse.
